Paper Piecings by Nikki Christmas Card week

Hello all my crafty friends!  I have to tell you I am having a blast being in my first design team.

This week's theme at Paper Piecings by Nikki is Christmas cards!  I made a really quick and simple card from this week's freebie being offered on the PPbN site.  I cut this adorable snowman at approx. 4" .  His scarf and background paper is from the Lost & Found  designer paper pad from My Mind's Eye, this pad is just adorable.  It isn't a Christmas pad but I really love the muted colors.  I made a little Stickle holly on his top hat, tied a piece of ribbon around the mat and voila!  a cute and so simple card ready for mailing!

Make sure you stop by Paper Piecings by Nikki's facebook page and say hi!  And then go to the PPbN store to grab this freebie while it's available.

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrappin!

Paper Piecings by Nikki Christmas blog hop Day 2 - 12/3/11

Welcome back to Day 2 of the Christmas paper piecing blog hop hosted by the ever creative Nikki of Paper Piecings by Nikki.  I am stop #2 on this hop, so hopefully you've gotten to me by way of Nikki's blog, if not you will want to start from the front of the line!

Well I have to say I was intrigued by paper piecings, that is after I found out what they were.  I was seeing the term thrown around on facebook in the various crafter groups and had no idea what they meant.  Basically it is just the art of cutting out an image with various parts and putting them together, layering, to form your image.  If you use a Cricut, you are doing paper piecings.  The piecings in my project today were designed by Nikki.  They are so adorable.  I hope you agree.  So now on to my layout for today...yes I'm on a layout binge right now, I tend to go in streaks, all cards, all home decor, etc.  Right now it's all about the layouts!

Here's the full layout, the paper is from the signature Christmas Holiday Glitter Book by My Minds eye

The mailbox and little girl are part of Nikki's Letters to Santa collection

1st page of the layout where I will scan a letter to Santa from one of my grandsons

2nd page of the layout where I will put the letter that Santa sent to one of the grandsons

Rudolph is from the Just Believe set and he is surrounded by letters cut from the Doodle bug cartridge
Thanks for visiting and if you visited and commented yesterday, make sure you do the same today for a chance at some blog candy..................

Now on to the wonderful project DORIS has in store for us!

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrappin!

Paper Piecings by Nikki Christmas blog hop day 1 - 12/2/11

Hello my crafty friends and welcome to the Christmas paper piecing blog hop hosted by Nikki of Paper Piecings by Nikki.  This is a two day hop, so make sure you visit both days for some awesome projects!

I am the second stop on this wonderful hop, you should have gotten here from the wonderfully creative Nikki herself.  If you didn't get here by way of Nikki's blog, please go back and start from the beginning, where all wonderful things start!!

For my project today I used piecings from Nikki's store, this is made with her Just Believe Christmas Pattern collection and can be purchased here paperpiecingsbynikki.  Now I have never used anything other then the Cricut to cut images and was a little intimidated, but these little guys were so adorable I had to give this a try.  I just love the chubbiness and rounded edges of all these patterns.  If you're good at hand cutting you could even cut them out without using a cutting machine.

This paper is from DCWV The Christmas Combo Pack

Here is a close up of this adorable Rudolph!

Close up of Santa holding the "Believe" sign I stickled his hat

This Dear Santa tag is from the paper stack I just cut it out of the paper

The tree and presents are cut from the matching paper. The ribbon and garland are stickled and pop dotted onto this page

I was totally inspired for this layout after seeing several done by Michelle OnCloudNine.  Her layouts are so full of pattern and color I just had to try one!

Your next stop on this wonderful hop is DORIS.......but before you go would you like some blog candy!!

In order to win all you need to do is visit and comment both days of the hop.  I will pick a winner by the end of the week.

Christmas ribbon, stickers, and brads
