Paper Piecings by Nikki DT Posting

Well today is Saturday and my DT day to post for Paper Piecings by Nikki.  Nikki comes up with the cutest cutting files and this one is no exception.  I'm going to show you what I did with the Piggin' Out cutting file set.  Here's the set:

Isn't this just adorable for a BBQ or picnic layout or invite?

I didn't scrap either of those events exactly, but I did want to remember a special time when the grandkids were working together to make a red, white & blue cake for all of us!  Eating is one of the favorite things we like to do and plan when we go camping as a family.  We come up with new recipes, fun foods and lots of snacks.  Here is a two page layout showing what we like to do the most....

Paper is from The Paper studio the Basics set

left page
The black inking is actually from the Sew Stamper starburst pattern

Letters are from Thickers

so that's it for this weeks project from Paper Piecings by Nikki.  Remember to LIKE us on facebook where every month we offer free files just for playing along!

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrappin!

If you arrived here from Linda then you are in the right spot. If you just happend by and want to start at the beginning, you can do so by going to: www.paperpiecingsbynikki.blogspot.com.

For my project I used Nikki;s "Ready To Pop" die cut set. This is an adorable pattern that is very quick and easy to cut.  There is no piecing necessary as they are all silhouettes.  I made three baby shower cards is less then an hour and what took the longest was designing the front of the cards.  The cutting only took 5 minutes!.

For the green card I used Perfect Pearls to give the card a shimmery look
The pink & blue card has a $1 stamp border that I stamped in 1/2 pink & 1/2 blue
For the yellow card I used the polka dot background stamp from Pink by Design
All three cards were stamped with sentiments from the Pink by Design Scripted Year stamp set

I added a single element from this collection to the inside of each
card for a little something extra

Thanks for stopping by and make sure you continue on your way through a little hop:
Next in the line up is Ashley

Paper Piecings by Nikki DT Posting

Welcome to Saturday and another posting of an adorable file by Paper piecings by Nikki!  Today I am showing you a digi stamp from the Little Monsters set (you can find it here).  I'm still trying my hand at digi stamps and I tried the same stamp with two different mediums.  Bic markers and colored pencils.  I'm not happy with either but I figured as long as I was learning I would still post and maybe get some tips on type of markers to use, how to set the printer ink or encourage some other newbie stampers that at first we all have learning curves.

Here is the digi I used colored pencils on and eventually turned into a card for my youngest grandson who will be turning 3! at the end of the month.

Side view to show all the layering

I added Liquid Pearls to the "crayon" portion to give it some brightness
Here is the digi I did using Bic markers.

The black printer ink ran even after I let the image dry for an hour, so I'm not sure if I should have sprayed something onto the paper before I tried using markers, I'll google that and find out, but I had colored a image that I had stamped using versmark black ink, used the same markers and no bleed, so it has to be something with my printer ink.  Also I  noticed that the paper tended to wear through causing fibers to pop up, so again it may have been the brand of paper I chose too.  All things I need to work on before I even try the more expensive markers.

But my inability to properly color doesn't take away from the adorableness of this file, so for all you seasoned stampers out there go visit Nikki's site for more digi patterns and please leave me some tips (pleez!!)

cut and trimmed to make the borders

This is a two day hop and tomorrow will bring all new projects dedicated to having fun this summer.  For my project today I have made a two page scrapbook layout using piecings from Paper Piecings by Nikki.  My piecings are from the Independence Day set.  I have only used a few of the patterns that come with this totally adorable set, check the PPbN site out to see what the other patterns look like!

I used white glitter paper and blue metallic paper on this layout to give it that
shiny firework look

Here is a close up of the liberty hat with the bears. These bear patterns are also perfect
to use as "tear bears" with mulberry paper

the left page

the right page - I wrote the words "freedom" & "Liberty" on these adorable
chalk board clothespins and simply clipped them to the piecings
