My Imagine-nation Monday at Erica's My Cricut Craftroom

Today over at Erica's My Cricut Craft Room the design team had a choice to use the Imagine, CCR, the mini or the letter E.

I've been doing my Monday postings using the Imagine, as this machine is new to me and I wanted all the practice I could get.  For my last January Monday posting using the Imagine I am going to show you how to turn this...

into a really cute, quick project.

A Post It note cover! The base paper is just from my scraps because you don't need a big piece to begin with. I cut all my images from the Imagine More cartridge at 3" and inked the edges in brown. The string tied finger is cut twice and pop dotted on each other for a little dimension.  I got the tutorial for this post it note cover from Split Coast Stampers here.  This is such a quick way to dress up those post it notes that are laying on your desk or counter.

Thanks for stopping by and make sure you go to My Cricut Craft Room to see more projects for our theme today!

Happy Scrappin!

Preparing for the "Wedding"

Hi everyone, this has been one super busy month for me.  My only daughter is getting married on Saturday!  Yay!!  So exciting, so exhausting.  All our wedding related crafting has finally come to a stop and just in time to celebrate in a big way BLOGGER style!..  That's right on Saturday as my daughter is starting the first day of her new married life, we will be celebrating in blogger land with a hop to celebrate for her.  A very generous, talented group of fellow bloggers will be showcasing the scrapbook pages they have created just for my daughter.  That's right, the scrapbook pages you will be seeing during this hop will all be given to my daughter to fill with her wedding pictures.  Isn't that the sweetest thing, crafters are the most generous group of people.  They don't even know her and they have banned together to create pages for her so she has a ready to go scrapbook to get her started.

So make sure you stop back here on Saturday January 28th to hop along and celebrate with all of us!

Thank you for stopping by and Happy Scrappin!!

My Imagine-nation or the letter "D" at My Cricut Craftroom

Today over at Erica's My Cricut Craftroom the design team was tasked with either using the Imagine, CCR, E2 or the letter "D".  I have chosen to use the Imagine.  The Imagine is new to me, just getting one at Christmas, but I am loving how easy it is to put projects together that look great.  Here is my project for today:

I altered one of the included projects, just a little, to make this perfect birthday card for my adult son.  This project is on the Buccaneer Imagine cartridge and is really intended to be used as a party invitation. I cut the card and matching envelope at 10.5, the largest that would be allowed.  I then cut both the happy birthday and rum swilling pirate at 3", using the layers feature for both.  "Birthday" is pop dotted for added dimension.  I cut the pirate twice, one combined and then again using the layers.  The combined image was placed on the card base, then I pop dotted all the layers onto the second pirate and placed him on an action wobble to give him a little more movement.

Never heard of Action Wobbles?  They are little springs with adhesive on both sides;

Here's a pic showing all the dimension used in this card:

Make sure you stop at Erica's My Cricut Craft Room to see more projects today!

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrappin!

Imagine, E2, Mini or CCR Day at My Cricut Craftroom

Well it's Monday again and you know what that means!  That's right I have to show another project using my new Imagine.  If you didn't visit last week I am a member of the My Cricut Craftroom  design team and on Monday's the theme is to use either the Imagine, E2, Mini or the Cricut Craftroom.  Because I had just gotten the Imagine at Christmas I decided I was going to do a month of Monday's using the Imagine to learn how to use it.  One thing I did find out is that my Imagine isn't reading regular content cartridges so I will have to call Provocraft to get that resolved because the Imagine is designed to use both Imagine special cartridges and ALL the others, that's right double the fun! Once I get that resolved the skies the limit!!  (Did you get through all that?) So on with my project.....

My daughter and I had taken three of the grandkids to the mall and we all piled into one of those tiny photo booths really designed for teenage girls.  We had a blast trying to get everyone in the picture.  I knew I had to keep this displayed on the 'fridge with all the other pics.....that's me all squished in the back LOL.

This was really simple to make and turned out really cute.  I used the Imagine More cartridge that came with the machine, as I only have 3 carts so far.  I picked out this stretched  frame.  The original background of this frame was actually green, but I liked the playful look of the squares so I changed the color.  It cuts in 5 layers, if you want it layered, which I did.  So simple to just ink the edges, and tape it all together.

I then used an old magnetic calendar, you know the ones you get in the mail all the time.. I always keep these  and simply cut it into strips and used tacky tape to attach it to the frame.

I hope you like my simple little project, can't wait to learn so much more with this machine.  To see more projects like mine please visit My Cricut Craft Room and check out the DT sister's projects!!

My Cricut Craft Room Design Team Imagination Monday

If you are here for the  Boy oh Boy blog hop go here: Boy oh Boy!

One of the themes today at My Cricut Room is Imagination Monday.  I just got the Imagine at Christmas and really have no idea what I am doing, so I decided that for my weekly posts as a DT member at My Cricut Craft Room I would be doing every Monday's Imagine spot.  So, for all you seasoned Imagine users out there, you are going to be saying, "C'mon Liz the machine can do way more then that!"  but for you brand new, or non owners, you can take this Imagine ride with me and hopefully we will both learn something over the next few weeks!

Not knowing what I am doing at all, I chose the simplest thing I could find, a card feature on the Country Carnival Imagine cartridge.

This is the final product the card base prints and cuts what you see here, minus the mat and flower on the top right

The mat also comes already patterned, but I wanted to change it from the (see bottom pic) newsprint to a more coordinating rose print (top pic)  just a simple drag and drop accomplished that!

I also wanted to add something to that mat and because the card already had "thank you" printed on it I couldn't really use another sentiment (at least not one I had) - but now that I think about it I could have used something like "for all you do"..but anyway, I decided to add a matching flower.  The sizing is the tough part, I had to guess, and make it about 2 3/4 inches, it fit fine.

All that from only one sheet of paper, see.....

Thanks for taking this journey with me and PLEASE all you Imagine users out there leave me some tips!  Make sure you stop by My Cricut Craft Room to see all the other projects for today's theme!

Boy oh Boy blog hop

What are little boys made of?
Snips and snails, and puppy dogs tails
That's what little boys are made of!"

This fun blog hop is to showcase all things Boy. Come join us as we display creations that show each person's interpretation of Boy Oh Boy!

Your hostess for this hop is Jearise at http://lorbysworld.blogspot.com and she is so happy to have you as part of this hop. She'll pick one lucky person to receive a $10 gift card to Joann's Fabric and Craft. You must do two things to be eligible: take the time to hop through all the blogs and then let her know that they have done so and also become a follower of LORBY'S WORLD.

So if you have discovered this hop by chance, please start with http://lorbysworld.blogspot.com and continue through our list of blogs but if you've come from Jearise's blog then you're on the right track. Yay!

For my project today I made a Tim Burton, Corpse Bride window/shadow box for my 6 year old grandson.  he L O V E S Corpse bride and I have been hanging on to some stickers for awhile, waiting to make something with them.  Well I found this tiny shadow box at the Dollar Store right before Christmas and decided it was just the right size for this project!

First I painted the plain wood box in cobalt blue.  I adhered the inside papers with mod podge and placed a heavy coat over the entire box also.  The papers are from the Rock star collection.  I used my gypsy to cut the frame.  First I placed a square on my mat the same dimensions as the box, then I used Fancy Frames Cricut cartridge and sized the frame around the square.

here is some twine I knotted to look like stitches

Thank you for joining us today and now you can skip a dee doo dah on over to The Queen's Blog

My Cricut Craft Room 100 Cartridge January Blog Hop

I am so excited to welcome you to my first 100 Cartridge blog hop being part of the My Cricut Craftroom design team.  You should have come from Janet's blog.  If not, please start at the beginning here .   If you have never done the 100 cartridge blog hop before let me explain a little.  The design team from My Cricut Craftroom creates projects using at least 100 different Cricut Cartridges.  You may see projects made with some of the same cartridges, but there will be 100 different cartridges used throughout this hop!    For my first blog hop (I will be in at least 6 this year!)  I have chosen to use George and Basic Shapes, Country Life and Cindy Loo to make this gift bag.

The bag itself is from George and Basic shapes,  the frame is from Cindy Loo and the romping lambs are from Country Life.   I used my gypsy to make the bag as large as would fit on a 12 x 12 mat.  Then I added pages to my project and added the frame to the second page and the lambs to the third.  This was so I could make both the lambs and the frame as large as would fit on my bag by using the preview feature you can see every image on each page.

The flowers are from Prima and I used two shades of glimmer mist on them, denim and cranberry.  Thanks for stopping by and sharing  my first post for the 100 cartridge blog hop.

And to thank you for stopping in I have some blog candy for you...to get you started with your valentine projects!

Leave me a comment with a way to contact you and make sure you leave some love on my fellow DT members postings also!
